it's happening again! i have worn a size 10 shoe since i stopped growing. for some strange reason my feet shrink when i get preggo. seriously! you would expect the opposite, right!? i walked away from a successful shoe shopping trip with these adorable, peep-toe nine's and another 9.5 pair (both reduced waaaay low, woo hoo!), which worked in my favor because 10 wasn't available in either. luckily these skinny jeans are super stretchy and can support my expanding bump a lil' while longer. i am loving flounce tops like this one and the off-the-shoulder look is needed for this unforgiving Texas summer heat. whew.
calling all Greek freaks and Niko Niko lovers!!! Niko Niko's new I-10 & Beltway 8 location is now open! did you ever catch Niko Niko's on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri on Food Network? well deserved appearance, no doubt. they were already on Houston's map though!Hubs and i didn't mind taking the drive into the city to the original Montrose location, but we're cool with them meeting us halfway :) . ironically, it's 30 seconds away from my gym. #uhohthey knew the crowd was on its way so they were well equipped with this huge, accommodating, dining room. nice. i wasn't too hungry but still wanted to enjoy an outing with my bears. i stuck with their seafood soup + greek salad combo. their greek salad has always been and will always be THE bomb! also chose to go light because eating late always ends up being a terrible idea. i wake up burping up the food i ate the night before because it hasn't finished digesting yet. ugh! all apart of the preggo process though. (remember, this helps with that!)
everything on this plate is a fan favorite. the seasoned, tender lamb, the soft, chewy pita bread, the crispy, non-oily fries, the buttery rice, and that one-of-a-kind tzatziki sauce. #herculesplate
pita pizza (which i don't even think is on the menu but was customized for us)and pita chicken quesadillas for the boys.talents: picking dessert.as i stood there dumbfounded, several people had the same idea and came up to snap pics of this massive, goodie filled dessert case. you can't help it!portion control on deck! 3 for 5 bucks. tiramisu, almond something, and chocolate something. lol. my sweet cravings are coming back unfortunately and fruit just ain't cuttin' it these days. doing my best to lean on the 80/20 nutrition rule, move 5-6 times a week, and drink plenty of water. ya know, the usual!
Q: do you like Greek food?
K E E P U P W I T H U S !
i'll be shifting things around concerning my prenatal one-on-one sessions & class times as i have accepted a 10:15am saturday TCX class at my Lifetime location!!!! i am crazy excited about it because i have been holding down the butt-crack-of-dawn shift for a while now....but it is certainly nice to see more new faces, daylight, and teach in a prime time slot. i am so ready to GROW this class and rock out with the members on saturday mornings! yall know i loooove my saturday morning workouts. so, *a-hem* for all those peeps that never quite made it to my 5:30am classes, now's your chance to give me a try ;)
the child center was hosting a Reindeer Games event for the kiddies, so after class i walked my tykes right over to the party. look who we ran into! i felt so bad for Mrs. Claus, ha. but i'm sure she has seen and experienced some crazy stuff dealing with young kiddos and all. Dego has not having it,
so this is the only thing i could come up with to make him sit still. #whatevs
i usually don't eat/drink much of anything besides coffee before teaching HIIT, so we had lunch at the Lifetime Cafe before heading out cause ya girl was hoongry. i refueled with a mediterranean egg white wrap and roasted carrots. so filling! kids get hunger attitudes just like we do (if not worse) so we all chowed down. this is why i take breakfast so important now that Chiso is in school! he can't leave the house without it.
later that evening i met up with my hubby, sis-in-love, and a few more friends and family to support my bro-in-love, Brian! he cleaned UP and won 1st place NPC Physique Open AND NPC Physique Novice. biiiig congrats to him; what a huge win for the 6 Pack USA team!
after church sunday, we finally headed to see the big tree at the Houston Galleria. Sonny doesn't fancy the word 'tradition' but this is one i'd like to keep going...forever! we actually had family pictures scheduled but the rain killed our plans....again. this is our last week and chance to take them...ugh. i have our outfits laid out and everything :( . wish us luck, ha!
"Chiso, do something cool!"
"ok, watch me whip." #boom
i can't even deal. 4? no way.
the best out of 87. enough of this. let's go eat.
for dinner, we went to a place recommended by a friend and client, Frances! True Food Kitchen did not disappoint.
their menu is comprised of the anti-inflammatory food pyramid. my body definitely appreciated that! love this concept and cannot wait to try out...the rest of the menu.
i started with their kale-aid.
(how deliciously cute is that?)
then, Sonny and i split their edamame dumplings per Frances' suggestion. they made us anticipate our entreès that much more.
do you see those perfectly cooked shrimp? *kisses finger tips* BELLISSIMO!!! the Panang Curry was THE STUFF. i usually don't do dairy-based/creamy sauces and/or soups but uuuuuh, the description sounded too good to resist. i was impressed and elated to report that i did not even bloat afterwards! awesome. Sonny requested half chicken & half shrimp with his, so i told our waiter i wanted the exact same thang.
pizza for the boys! well, just one boy. Dego was knocked out the entire time, so i fed him at home.
after we went to Pink Berry, lol. both of our phones were dead by that point, so no fro-yo pics, womp.
my bowl looked a lil' somethin' like this though! stole this pic from our maui 8th wedding anni trip.
Q: fit friends! what else is good at True Food Kitchen!? i ran into a friend of mine (owner and CEO of Inner Me Studios, Nicole Phillips) while there and she ordered quinoa pancakes which were NOT on the lunch menu... so of course i looked at her plate like 'what are thoooooose????' bwhahahaha. have you tried this place?
our saturday morning workout started with bear crawls!
ONE on ONE prenatal training sessions are available! email me for details at email@example.com. if you'd like to have the fittest pregnancy possible (or know a mama that needs one) it's my pleasure and purpose to show you how.
i don't think i say how much i love my job enough. Salata, The Next Generation Salad Bar, contacted me about giving their new catering options a try and you know i jumped right in, head first! i called my sis-in-law, Michelle, right away; she was all for getting together for a "girl's night 'out'" kinda thing! a brand spanking new Salata was built next to my gym a few months ago and i stop by there every so often to get my fix. if you are a lover of gigantic salads with a TON of variety, you need Salata in your life. trust me on this one! i stopped by the City Centre Houston location to pick up my goods and decided to eat my post workout lunch there. if you're a Salata first timer, follow me:
'thank you for finishing your call before ordering.' you tell'em, Salata. vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free peeps unite! i started with a salad and i wanted to go big. really big. post workout 'hangry' BIG.
i love that the calorie count is listed for every.single.item, right there in front of you.
i jokingly told the sweet girl who took my order that i wanted a lil' bit of everything and she responded, 'ok!' with a smile and got her scoop on. mind you there are like 50 different things you can build your salad with, people! you don't pay by weight at Salata; everything is portioned out reasonably by the server. look at all that gorgeous, healthy color!
dressing on the side, you know it. that Chipotle Ranch though... don't say i didn't warn ya. i wanted to drink it. i got a small side of it along with the fat-free mango dressing. if you'd like to sample one first, just ask.
protein! i went with the seafood mix which is a scrumptious combo of herb marinated salmon, krab, and shrimp. those three proteins are available individually along with these choices: baked tofu, quinoa, falafel, pit-smoked turkey, asian BBQ chicken, pesto chicken, spicy chipotle chicken, and herb marinated chicken. complete nutritional stats and ingredients are available on their website. avocado is extra but get it anyway!!! you're worth it.
next, you have a choice between croutons, a multigrain stick, or a basil asiago roll on the side,
a cup of yummy, gluten-free soup,
and/or one of these sweet treats for just a buck.
nothin' to it, right?
i found Dego and i a quiet corner of the restaurant so i could do my Periscope thang buuut, as usual ya girl couldn't catch a signal. womp. man i love the app so much though! i just wish i could get a gauranteed signal whenever the moment to broadcast strikes. i am not a fan of scheduled scopes (or super crazy long scopes that you can't fast forward through lol), so maybe i'm finally accepting that 'winging it' is just my thing.
just know it went down.
my lopsided bun and i were on our way to Michelle's house with the Salata Bar in tow.
thank you, Michelle, for graciously hosting our lil' shin-dig! i set everything up on the kitchen island before we dove in. the Salata Bar serves 15 people and came with:
- large tongs
- small tongs
- 1 protein choice (we chose the Asian BBQ chicken)
- 3 housemade dressings of your choice (we chose Chipotle Ranch, Ginger Lime Vinaigrette, & Lemon Vinaigrette)
- 12 fresh toppings
- multigrain sticks, croutons, pita chips, & basil asiago rolls
the ladies circled the island like sharks while i took pictures, haha.
twice in one day. ok, 3 times cause i took the leftovers home and ate again.
the Salata Bar was perfect for us, but there are a few more catering options to choose from including Wrap Trays, Boxed Lunches, Salata Bowls or you can customize a combo package.
i also brought along this low carb, dairy-free dessert for us to enjoy: Chocolate Chick Cookie Pie. i didn't tell a soul about the secret ingredient ;)
what a fun night; all the ladies raved over how delicious, fresh, and healthy everything was. they also now want to order cases of the Chipotle Ranch dressing!!! if you're in the business of hosting parties, gatherings (family, friends & professional) then the Salata Bar is convenient, highly recommended, and fitfoodiele approved.
Q: would you rather actually go out for a girls night, or stay in?
happy post 4th of july, yall! how did you celebrate? DO TELL! we hit the pool for the first time all summer and had so.much.fun. this past weekend! post is coming, you already know. it's monday though! mine started off with a big cup of hot 1/2 caff and sweaty knees.
i took a TCX (total conditioning extreme) class at Lifetime (yep, same one i teach) and i felt amaaaaaazing from that point on. the boys and i had a very special lunch date planned later so i had to take care of bidness early. did you see my Periscope from this morning!? if you haven't, download the app and add us! if you watched, THANK YA, and you already know where we headed today:
finally! fresh, fast-food designed for people on the go. it's right up my alley which is why i'm so excited to share this place with you! and the lowercase lettering is a plus ;) . Kristina DeLaTorre owns both the Galleria and Midtown locations and joined my friend Tinnell and i for lunch today. the decor though... absolutely adorbs. see?
contemoporary, bright, and i love this play on the periodic table of elements using veggies and other healthy goodies.
some day, i'm going to do this to my kitchen wall at home.
kid friendly options are always a plus and they've got some good ones. we told Rilee & Chiso to smile and Chiso (i mean, Spiderman) whipped out his web slinger.
i stood behind the glass counter ogling the menu which was full of salads & wraps, bowls, burritos, soups, juices, smoothies, breakfast, and low fat, probiotic frozen yogurt. holy variety.
on the way to the register there was also a section for mixed nuts and other conventional bulk items (trail mix, granola, wasabi peas, chocolate covered almonds) and a variety of lighter chip options. as a health conscious mom, i'd definitely feel better about giving my boys the pop chips instead of a side of greasy, salty french fries.
Kristina says the Pangoa Bowl is extremely popular and i was ready to see why.
best pic of the bunch! also, the kids were kinda loud during my Periscope so i apologize in advance, haha. it briefly shows what everbody else was eating too.
i ordered Chiso a cheese quesadilla and one bite into it he had a melt down. one word: tomatoes. :(
so we ordered another and he killed it.
so here it is! my Pangoa bowl: brown rice, avocado, black beans, aged cheddar, corn, grape, tomatoes, cilantro, lime wedge, and a spicy bbq sauce on top! SO DANG GOOD all mixed together! i added chicken, but you can choose from steak, tofu, falafel, or gourmet tuna for your protein. you can also do a kale or quiona base instead of rice. LOVE!
because it matters, all nutritional stats are listed online for ya.
i also had a Mighty Detox Juice i neglected to take a pic of before i gulped it down. it had a refreshing blend of pineapple, ginger, apple, celery and cucumber. then we headed over to the park a block away so the kids could get really tired play for a bit. so much personality in this girl!! we enjoyed hanging with these ladies today!
so, i've signed on to do one of freshii's detox challenges later this week (blog post coming) so look out for that. also, the winner of that Dri Sweat Flex headband from last week iiiiis: Peaches Cooper!
try freshii for yourself and let me know what you think and what you ordered!
