Sloppy Joes

a kid favorite! simple to throw together and serve up on your fave toasted bread/bun

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs lean ground turkey
  • 2 tbsp fave bbq sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • sea salt to taste
  • cracked black pepper to taste
  • non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. to a large skillet set to medium low heat, add 1 tbsp of olive oil. once heated, add chopped onion and stir around until tender and fragrant about 2-3 min
  2. coat onion and pan with non-stick cooking spray and add garlic; stir around and cook for 1-2 minute. set fire to medium high heat and add ground turkey. cook and brown meat until there is no more pink
  3. add seasonings, tomato sauce, paste, aminos, dijon mustard, bbq sauce. let the meat mixture simmer on medium low heat for about 5 minutes
  4. spoon mixture onto toasted sandwich bread of your choice!
